Any special project(s)/facilities that the Department offers:

Projects under Prof. Nagpul fellowship programme:

Under this program, students of mathematics, economics, physics and computer science are offered to do a project under a faculty member from the mathematics department wherein they learn some of the basics of an area in mathematics which is necessarily outside their curriculum.

Student profile: (at entry level and after they graduate):

At entry level: Mostly from private schools. However, recently there is an increase in children from government schools, rural background, modest economic strata. We have about 60% women students, 50% Christian( mostly from south), 8.5% Christian ST’s (mostly from north east), 8.5% Non-Christian ST’s, 3% Physically Challanged, 5% sports quota.

After graduation the profile is more or less the same.

Related Society:

Mathematics Society

The Society is devoted to pursuing activities aimed at fostering interest in maths and its myriad applications and in the creative expression of mathematical ideas. The students are an integral part of the Mathematics Society and together with help from the faculty members the society organizes lectures by eminent professors which enriches students by exposing them to various areas of mathematics outside the curriculum as well as cutting edge research.

Conferences/seminars conducted:

National Workshop on Group theory and its applications, 29-30 March 2016.

Symposium on Applied Mathematics, 21-22 March, 2017.

Social outreach programmes:

Maths department has also taken the initiative to expose our students to social causes/different sections of society by arranging visits and activities during flood-relief, riot-hit areas, refugee camps etc. Some of them are as follows:
