PROSPECTUS FOR CERTIFICATE COURSE
St. Stephen’s College offers part-time Certificate courses in the following languages for students of the University of Delhi and the general public: French, German, and Spanish, (affiliated to the Department of Germanic and Romance Studies, University of Delhi), Chinese, Japanese and Korean(affiliated to the Department of East Asian Studies, University of Delhi), Arabic, Persian and Urdu (affiliated to the concerned Departments of the University of Delhi).
A student will be admitted to only one course at a time. However, they can apply for multiple courses. Applicants should carefully read this introductory notice and then fill out the attached application form. The College reserves the right to cancel any course before 01 September 2024.
Application Process
Admissions will be fully online and the forms will be available on the college website on 27 June 2024.

Applicants are to pay a Registration fee of Rs.500/- at the time of submitting the online application. They are also required to upload their photograph and signature in the required format.
Eligibility: 55% and above in English in 12th standard or equivalent. Admission will be on the basis of the composite merit adding marks obtained for plus two and English Language.
Calendar of Admissions (Tentative)
- Online application: 27 June to 26 July 2024
- Last date for submission of forms for admission: 26 July 2024
- First List: 29 July 2024
- Second List: 03 August 2024
- Third List: 08 August 2024
- Time period to deposit course fee: Within three days of the notification of admission list failing which admission will be cancelled.

Duration of the Course
- Classes will begin from the second week of August and will continue until the end of April/May 2024. Classes will be held according to the University calendar.
Language courses are part-time courses. Students enrolled in these courses will not be regular students of the College. They are not entitled to college library facilities, hostel accommodation or any other facility open to regular students of this college. Those admitted have to sign an undertaking to that effect. However, identity cards of the School of Languages will be issued to them. Students who come by car will have to pay separate parking fees. Monthly passes for this purpose can be bought from the office.
The college reserves the right to take disciplinary action against any student found violating college discipline. This includes expulsion from the course.
Course Fee: Chinese, Japanese and Korean: Rs 17,000/- Arabic, Urdu and Persian: 9,500/- Sanskrit: 7,500 (Indian Students), Rs 15,000/- (Foreign students)
All other languages: Rs 21,500 (for Weekdays batch) Rs 23,500/-(for Weekend)
The course fee can be submitted by logging on to the portal using the registration id and password after verification.
The candidates admitted have to bring a print-out of the online application form along with a self-attested copy of the Plus Two Mark sheet for verification whenever the College reopens.
Fee once paid is non-refundable under any circumstance. Transfer from one certificate course to another (i.e. from one language to another, or from one section to another) after admission is not permitted.
(Admission to these courses is also open to the regular students of St. Stephen’s College. They will get 10% fees concession)
Please note the timings carefully. Cut off will be batch specific and your application will be considered on the basis of your first choice. Your second or third choice will be considered only if there are vacancies after the first and second cut off.
