WELL
DONE! MY FELLOW STEPHANIANS
It is with immense joy
and justifiable pride that I report to all fellow Stephanians that
three of our dear members have been conferred the awards of national
distinction in recent times.
1. Prof. Mohammad Amin (Padmabhushan)
Former Head, Dept. of History, who taught for 43 years in College.
Aminsab has an enduring place in the heart and history of our
College.
2. Shri. Anil Bordia: (Padmabhushan). A
dearly loved student of Aminsab, who distinguished himself as a
career Civil Servant and, as Secretary Govt. of India (Education)
played a key role in enunciating the Policy on Education.
It is worthy of mention that we do not know of any
other instance in which a teacher and his student were conferred the
same distinction in the same year for the same category of service;
namely, education and culture.
We had a well-attended felicitation for Aminsab and
Bordia ji on Sunday the 21st of February 2010 in College
Hall which was followed by lunch in the Dining Hall.
3. Mrs. Joy Michael.
Mrs. Michael has been conferred the prestigious national theatre
award by the Sangeet Natak Academy fro the year 2009 in recognition
of her outstanding contributions to theatre direction. She was,
incidentally, the Secretary of the College Shakespeare Society in
1947.
We love you, Joy and are proud of the rich
contributions you have made to the cause of theatre and culture.
We also salute our innumerable alumni, though
unsung and undecorated, are doing commendable work in key areas and
are keeping the flag of the College [Jeetega Bhai Jeetega, Lal
Sitara Jeetega!] flying.
