ACTIVITIES AND EVENTS 


The Department of Physical Education of the College has been organizing the sports activities for improving the health and wellness of the students, apart from competitive games for the benefit of the Junior Members of the college as Intra Murals while also Organizing Inter College Invitational Competitions for the College teams as per the traditions of St Stephen’s College.

This year the Department of Physical Education conducted the following events:

Special Assignments for Faculty

Mr. S K Chakravortty was entrusted as Chief of the Selection Committee for the All India Inter University Tournament. He played a central role in organizing Selection camps for all interested students in the college. The effort of Mr Chakravortty paid well as the Team won Gold at the All India Inter Varsity Championships.

Mr. Sujay John was appointed as Member of the selection Committee for the Delhi University Football Team selection and training camp organized by Delhi University Sports Council during the Winter Holidays (December – January) where students of the college were taking part. Mr John was also a member the committee for the Delhi University Badminton Team

 


SPORTS BASH 2015-16

SPORTS EVENTS ORGANIZED WITHIN COLLEGE

The Department of Physical Education Launched the Sports Bash 2015-16 in this academic year. The Sports Extravaganza was aimed to sow the seeds of Sporting Culture within the college.

This event had events on the sports arena and off the sporting turf where the aim was not only create mass participation in active sports but also to create a thinking mind with a positive attitude towards sports and sporting issues in the world.

Principal’s XI Vs Students Cricket Match

The first event organized by the Department of Physical Education was the Cricket Match, which was based on the popular T20 Format of Cricket.

The two sides were the Principal’s XI who faced the vigour and youthful exuberance of the Students XI.

This innovative strategy was inaugurated by the college Principal, Revd. Valson Thampu who started the function with a mighty six of the inaugural ball of the Match between Staff Vs Students.

The Staff Team consisted of a combination of the Teaching Faculty of the college and Non-Teaching Community.

St.Stephen’s College – Sports Bash

Cross Country Race

Day Two of the Sports Bash kicked off in the wee hours of the morning with the Cross Country Race. The rain Gods too opened up their arms with a welcome shower which fortunately did not dampen the spirits of the Runners. Nearly 50 participants rose to the occasion and lined up of the Football Field of the college at 6 am with umbrellas and ready to spring into their stride.  Apart from the conventional first, second and Third prizes, Top Ten Participants in both the Men and the Women section were awarded prizes, while all participants were given motivational gifts and refreshments.
